Spring Framework 3.1 released

Spring Framework 3.1 is finally here and I can't wait to upgrade. There are quite a few nice additions but one feature that I find really interesting is Bean Definition Profiles which will allow me to stop shuffling configuration files using Maven build profiles.

Cloud Computing Porn: What powers Instagram

It's always very interesting for me to read how different companies operate and what technologies they use. Here's a nice article from the engineers at Instagram about their infrastructure. They use Route 53 for their DNS, elastic load balancing and lots of EC2 instances for their application and database servers. And they managed to scale to over 14 million users in a year having just 3 engineers.

There's also a nice video at the end for lazy readers. In the meantime I'm still waiting for my Nexus which should arrive sometime at the beginning of December.

It already has an API which can be used to create hosted zones and add records to them, but I only have a few domains so I didn't want to mess around with it. Nothing can stop me now from moving all of my domains to the cloud.
